Ex-internationals rise in support for Shehu Dikko

27 September 2014
Shehu Dikko’s quest to be the next President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has received the blessings of former Nigerian internationals Friday Christopher and Peter Ogaba.

Both Nigeria stars said Dikko is the best man to take Nigerian football to the next level.

Christopher, who is the chief coach of Enyimba FC, said: “Dikko is a very experienced person in football administration.

“I am most impressed by his passion for grassroots football. It will be recalled that he was very key to the success of the last U17 squad. He had sponsored them to a playing tour in London right from their U13 and U15 days.

“I am a grassroots-oriented coach because when we get it right at that level, every other thing falls into place.

“It will be a thing of joy if the Dikko project is successful. He will take our football to very high level”.

Ogaba, who was a member of the famous Damman Miracle U20 squad, added that Dikko’s candidacy is a good omen for Nigerian football.

“For us ex-internationals and the younger ones, it is a welcome development. He has been involved in football administration for a long time and for such a young man, it shows he has a lot of passion,” Ogaba remarked.

“Dikko is the ideal footballer’s president. He is the type of NFF president every footballer will want to have because he is so keen on the players’ welfare. With him, our football will surely go higher and higher”.
